The Hotel Dream Gran Tacande received the EMAS registration
EMAS grants the legal obligation for hotels on the Canary Islands; this is possible up to five stars.
The 5-star hotel Dream Gran Tacande is located in Costa Adeje, Tenerife. It belongs to the hotel chain Dreamplace Hotels & Resorts, which was recently awarded with the EMAS registration of the Canary Islands.
Spain is the second country in the ranking, which is recording the highest number of EMAS registrations; it is beat only by Germany.
This type of registration has been created next to the ISO 14001 certification by TÜV test.
With this latest certification, the 5-star hotel Dream Gran Tacande require to adopt the decree 142 of 4th of October 2010, established by the Canary Islands Government. Also to perform the environmental management system and quality management in the hotel properly, this is already been certified by the Q for Quality Tourism (UNE 182 001).
EMAS stands for Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, which deals with environmental management and the environmental auditing.
The certification is based on voluntary participation, as the organization aims a high level of commitment to achieve the environment.
The requirements of EMAS to an environmental management system lay with special emphasis on the aspect of the relationship between legislation, improved environmental performance, external communication and employee involvement.
